McGrath Veterinary Center is expanding. As we open a brand-new, state-of-the-art hospital across from our current Sherman Oaks location, our existing facility will become a dedicated Urgent Care & Emergency center. We are seeking an experienced, confident, and highly self-sufficient Emergency Urgent Care Veterinarian to serve as the anchor doctor for this new service line.

The Opportunity
This role is designed for a veterinarian with significant urgent care and emergency experience who is comfortable working independently, managing high-acuity cases, and helping elevate the skills of the surrounding team. You will be the primary medical leader of the urgent care facility, supported by three dedicated technicians and full hospital resources.
We are open to local and national candidates. Relocation support is available.
Schedule Options
The urgent care hospital will operate 12:00 pm – 10:00 pm.
We anticipate either:
- Three 12-hour shifts, OR
- Four 10-hour shifts
One weekend day is required. Final schedules will be refined based on candidate preference and operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary clinician for all urgent care and emergency cases in the remodeled facility
- Perform comprehensive examinations, triage, and diagnostics
- Manage and treat urgent and emergent medical conditions
- Perform advanced soft-tissue surgeries, including foreign body removals and abdominal procedures
- Develop and communicate treatment plans clearly to clients
- Oversee hospitalized patients and ensure continuity of care
- Support and help develop urgent care workflows as the hospital expands
- Collaborate closely with dedicated technicians and the broader McGrath team
- Maintain accurate medical records and uphold hospital standards for quality and safety
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $200,000+ DOE
- Quarterly production bonus at 20%, with guaranteed base regardless of production

Requirements
Qualifications
- DVM or equivalent degree; active California veterinary license (or ability to obtain)
- Minimum 5 years of professional veterinary experience, including strong urgent care and emergency exposure
- Confident surgical skillset, particularly in abdominal and foreign body procedures
- Comfortable working independently in a high-acuity environment
- Excellent client communication and teamwork abilities
- Strong diagnostic and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to work at least one weekend day and some evenings
- Interest in mentoring support staff and contributing to a high-functioning urgent care culture
