At the Humane Society of Sonoma County (HSSC), our High-Quality High-Volume Spay/Neuter (HQHVSN) surgeons practice prevention medicine at scale. Every surgery prevents future suffering and every day changes the trajectory of hundreds of animals.

The Schedule
- Full-time or part-time considered
- Flexible schedule options
- Predictable surgery blocks
- Rarely on call or evenings
What You’ll Do
- Perform 30–35 high-quality spay/neuter procedures per day (case mix dependent)
- Manage complex cases including pregnant, pediatric, in-heat, and cryptorchid patients
- Apply efficient, safe anesthetic and analgesic protocols optimized for high-volume settings
- Collaborate with a highly skilled support team focused on patient safety and flow
- Contribute to regional population management and access-to-care strategies
Last year, our team completed thousands of surgeries that directly reduced shelter overcrowding and improved access to veterinary care across Sonoma County.

Who Thrives Here
- DVM/VMD + CA license
- Experience in HVHQSN techniques
- Surgeons who love precision and efficiency
- Shelter or HQHVSN veterinarians who value systems and teamwork
High-volume experience very much preferred, and strong surgical candidates transitioning from general practice are welcome to apply.

Compensation & Benefits
- $150,000–$175,000 DOE
- Flexible scheduling with prorated salary options
