Product Development Manager (REMOTE)
About the Job:
We are seeking a seasoned pet food professional with experience in product development, formulation, and regulatory compliance to lead our product innovation and improvement initiatives at Jinx. As a key member of the innovation team, this role will work closely with both internal teams and external co-manufacturing partners to bring new products to market and improve product quality. Additionally, this person will oversee our regulatory compliance for all product and support our consumer affairs team on technical product related questions.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the research and development of new pet food products, from concept to commercialization.
- Support overall timeline development and project management initiatives.
- Analyze product performance data and consumer feedback, providing actionable insights for product improvements and innovations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, operations, and quality assurance to ensure that new products meet consumer needs, regulatory requirements, and business objectives.
- Research pet nutrition, ingredient functionality, and processing technologies to stay ahead of industry trends and advancements.
- Design and execute research studies and experiments to evaluate new pet food products' safety, efficacy, and palatability.
- Develop and maintain product specifications, manufacturing processes, and help implement quality control standards and SOPs.
- Provide technical expertise and support to manufacturing, operations, and customer service teams.
- Maintain the latest industry knowledge regarding regulations, nutritional guidelines, and best practices to inform contributions to product development.
- Identifying and sharing best practices across sites to improve product, process, and ingredient efficiencies.
- Identifying and leading formula, ingredient, or process changes to improve and optimize manufacturing efficiencies and costs.
Qualifications:
- BS in Animal Nutrition, Food Science, or a related field preferred
- 5+ years of experience in pet food research, development & commercialization
- Proven track record of developing and launching successful pet food products.
- Strong knowledge of pet nutrition, ingredient functionality, and processing technologies.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
