Job Requisition: Experienced Veterinary AssistantLocation: All Pets Animal Hospital
Position Title: Veterinary Assistant (Experienced)
Reports To: Lead Technician / Practice Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time
Position Summary:
We’re excited to welcome a dedicated Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our friendly, supportive, and hard-working team. Our hospital is known for compassionate, high-quality care-and for the people behind it. We are a busy, multi-species practice that cares for dogs, cats, and a variety of exotic pets Experience with exotic is a plus. The ideal candidate brings confidence, kindness, and a passion.
- Safely and calmly restrain patients for exams, treatments, and procedures
- Assist veterinarians and technicians with diagnostics, radiology, treatments, and surgical preparation
- Experience assisting with surgery, anesthesia monitoring & recovery
- Support exotic pet care including husbandry guidance, nail trims, handling, and basic procedures (training available)
- Keep exam rooms, treatment areas, and kennels clean, organized, and well-stocked
- Monitor patients (TPRs, comfort checks, recoveries) and assist with daily treatments
- Provide excellent client service with friendly communication, patient updates, and education
- Help maintain hospital flow, including check-ins, paperwork, and teamwork across departments
- Follow all safety and infection-control protocols, including exotics-specific handling and sanitation
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience as a veterinary assistant in a clinical setting
- Skilled in safe animal handling and restraint (including willingness to learn exotic handling)
- Strong communication, teamwork, and multitasking abilities
- Positive, professional attitude and commitment to excellent patient care
- Ability to lift 40 lbs and stand for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous work in surgery, radiology, or high-volume practice
- Familiarity with veterinary software
- Fear-Free or similar handling certification
Schedule & Compensation:
- Full-time position; Saturdays required
- Competitive pay based on experience $20-25 per hour
