Description

Make a Difference in a Hospital Where Your Skills Matter

Join an AAHA-accredited, Fear Free Certified, Cat Friendly Practice where great medicine, compassionate care, and strong teamwork come together.

Bayshore Animal Clinic has served the South Tampa community for more than 25 years. We're looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician who wants to grow their skills, contribute to excellent patient care, and be part of a team that genuinely values their work.

Whether you're an experienced Veterinary Assistant or Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), this is an opportunity to build your career in an established small-animal general practice with experienced medical professionals, mentorship, and opportunities to continue learning.
  • 4 days per week
  • Rotating Saturdays
  • Consistent weekday schedule with shared weekend coverage

What You'll Do

You'll play an important role in supporting patients, clients, veterinarians, and your teammates throughout the hospital.
  • Provide compassionate patient care, restraint, and veterinary nursing
  • Assist with examinations, treatments, procedures, and appointments
  • Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and sample collection based on training and experience
  • Support in-house laboratory diagnostics and patient monitoring
  • Assist with surgery, dentistry, anesthesia, and recovery
  • Prepare patients and treatment areas for procedures
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed
  • Monitor hospitalized and surgical patients
  • Maintain accurate medical records and treatment documentation
  • Educate clients on medications, treatments, and home care
  • Support patient discharge and follow-up communication
  • Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked treatment areas
  • Communicate effectively with veterinarians and the veterinary team
  • Step in where needed to keep the hospital moving during busy periods

What We're Looking For

We're looking for veterinary professionals who bring a strong foundation in patient care and a genuine desire to grow.
  • Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician experience preferred
  • Experience in a veterinary hospital, animal hospital, general practice, or specialty setting
  • Hands-on experience with animal restraint, venipuncture, laboratory work, medications, and patient care
  • Surgery, dentistry, anesthesia, and hospitalized patient experience preferred
  • Strong communication, organization, and client service skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Dependable, team-oriented, and willing to jump in where needed
  • Commitment to Fear Free handling, patient safety, and compassionate care
  • CVT credential preferred, but not required for experienced Veterinary Assistants and Technicians
  • Ability and willingness to continue developing technical skills

Veterinary medicine is active and hands-on. Team members should be comfortable with:
  • Standing and walking for extended periods
  • Bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, and working at floor level
  • Safely lifting, carrying, and restraining dogs and cats
  • Patient transfers, positioning, and movement
  • Cleaning, stocking, treatment preparation, and equipment maintenance
  • Exposure to animal dander, fur, saliva, urine, feces, blood, and other bodily fluids
  • Working with veterinary medications, cleaning products, and medical equipment
  • Following PPE, safety, and infection-control procedures

What We Offer

We believe great veterinary technicians should have opportunities to keep learning and build a career, not simply work another shift.

At Bayshore, you'll have access to resources designed to support your continued development, including:
  • Continuing education and professional development
  • Support for expanding your technical skill set
  • Mentorship and technician development opportunities
  • Opportunities to grow into greater clinical or leadership responsibilities
  • Access to career development opportunities throughout a growing veterinary network
  • Comprehensive benefits for eligible full-time team members
  • Employee pet care discounts
  • Hourly Wage Negotiable for Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT)
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Retirement savings with employer match
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Life and disability insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program and wellness resources

At Bayshore Animal Clinic, you'll be surrounded by people who care deeply about their patients, their clients, and one another. You'll have the support to grow your skills, share your knowledge, and make an impact.

If you're a Certified Veterinary Technician or experienced Veterinary Assistant looking for a practice where your skills, voice, and professional growth truly matter, we want to hear from you.
