Description
ACCESS Los Angeles is seeking a Veterinary Technician Manager to join our specialty team!Who we are
Located in Culver City, ACCESS LA is a referral hospital with 24hour Emergency services, where our technicians encounter a variety of cases while working closely with some of the most qualified doctors in the country. Since we have numerous specialty departments, it’s possible a tech’s day could involve a Macaw with a broken beak, time in one of our many advanced operating rooms, watching our Orthopedic Surgeons replace a dog’s elbow, or operating an MRI. It’s a long list of unique experiences best suited to those who absolutely love caring for sick or injured animals in a high-paced, renowned animal hospital. Salary: $80k to $90k yearly, dependent upon experience.
Job Purpose:
• Responsible for maintaining a technical staff that adheres to the principles of Quality,
Integrity, Compassion and Service
• Responsible for the training, performance, scheduling and review of specialty department
technical staff
• Provide primary point of contact through which all technical questions, comments,
concerns and issues can be handled, for the specialty departments only, while on and off
premises.
• This is a 5 day a week, salary / exempt position reporting directly to the Hospital
Administrator
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Scheduling and performance of interviews and skill assessments for all potential technical
staff new hires for the specialty departments
• Appropriate scheduling of specialty technical staff to maximize coverage and minimize
overtime while recognizing 24/7 case load needs, including coverage of technical
responsibilities for patients as needed as well as approval of time off requested
• Share responsibility with the ECC Technician Manager for making sure all Cubex machines
are fully stocked and all necessary maintenance on the Cubex machines are performed
• Provision of medical, behavioral, and performance expectations to specialty technical
staff
• Oversight, with the guidance of Hospital Administrator, of specialty technical staff
performance, ensuring quality control and consistency of technical task completion
• Performance of specialty technical staff review on a regular basis to ensure staff members
are provided clear expectations and understand how they perform compared to
expectations
• Communication with Hospital Administrator on specialty equipment performance and
maintenance to ensure necessary functionality
• Work closely with Hospital Administrator as well as the entire administrative team to
ensure consistent practices throughout the hospital
• Act as primary person for resource management of specialty technical staff
• As assigned by Hospital Administrator, oversee training of specialty technical staff in
various areas of technical skills pertinent to their specific specialty department
• Responsible for being primary key-holder OR Cubex resource as needed
• Responsible for scheduling regular specialty technical staff meetings and verifying that all
action items from each meeting are handled before eliminating them from the list of
items to complete
• General facility oversight and knowledge, including handling or delegation of first
response for urgent specialty department needs
• Responsible for upholding the spirit of ACCESS by handling all necessary tasks that require
attention
Qualifications:
• The Specialty Technician Manager should ideally possess an RVT, and 2+ years of lead or
supervisory experience
• Must be an excellent leader
• Must be well organized and able to multi-task effectively
