Lead Overnight Emergency Care with Confidence and Purpose

Compensation:

Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT/RVT/CVT/VTS): $25.00-$35.00/hour, based on experience

Veterinary Technician (Unlicensed): $18.00-$25.00/hour, based on experience

The final hourly rate will be determined based on credentials, experience, skills, and location.

Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists of Mansfield is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician - Shift Leader to join our overnight emergency team. This role is ideal for a confident, technically strong technician who enjoys leading teams, managing hospital flow, and delivering exceptional emergency care in a fast-paced environment.

About the Hospital

Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists of Mansfield provides 24/7 emergency care, including holidays. Our emergency team is equipped to handle critical cases at any hour with advanced diagnostics and treatment capabilities, including:

• In-house bloodwork and digital radiology
• Surgery and anesthesia
• Oxygen therapy and transfusions
• Ultrasound and endoscopy

What You’ll Do

As the Overnight Shift Leader, you’ll support high-quality patient care while guiding and supporting your team by:

• Overseeing overnight hospital flow to ensure efficient, compassionate patient care
• Supporting veterinarians by executing treatment plans and ensuring continuity of care
• Delegating responsibilities to treatment and surgery technicians
• Assisting with emergency procedures, anesthesia, diagnostics, and surgeries
• Monitoring anesthesia and providing advanced technical nursing care
• Admitting and discharging patients, creating treatment plans, and discussing home care with clients
• Addressing client concerns with professionalism and empathy
• Training, mentoring, and assessing technician skill development
• Collaborating with leadership to develop protocols that improve efficiency and patient outcomes

What We’re Looking For

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 3 years of emergency veterinary technician experience
• Strong leadership and decision-making skills
• Advanced anesthesia monitoring experience
• Strong technical skills, including phlebotomy
• Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced emergency setting
• Organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated

Preferred Qualifications

• Credentialed veterinary technicians strongly encouraged to apply (LVT/RVT/CVT/VTS)
• Experience mentoring or leading teams
• Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills
