Description
We are looking for an additional veterinarian to join our busy small animal practice.
The clinic is open 7 days per week. Each weekday is a mix of consults and surgery. On weekends, we take emergency consults. The clinic is very well equiped. Our approach is to be thorough. Diagnostic work-ups are encouraged. We have xrays, ultrasound, tonometry, full Idexx suite including Sedivue and Invue, a defibrillator, multiple oxygen stations, 4 anaesthetic machines, numerous pumps, active warming...
We see and treat many varied cases, including snake bite, intestinal foreign bodies, caesarean sections, bladder stones, and much more. The lead vet is highly experienced in medicine and surgeries, capable of complex surgeries and sharing such expertise.
We have a team of experienced dedicated hard-working lovely nurses. They really do go above and beyond.
We are looking for another veterinarian to join our team. This may be a new graduate or an experienced vet but attitude is everything. We are looking for someone not only great with patients and clients but also that fits in well.with our lovely team.
The job can be molded for the right candidate, as in part-time or full-time. However, we do need someone who is able to fill varying shifts between 9 am and 8 pm Mon to Fri, and 11 am and 10 pm on weekends, to share the load evenly amongst vets. Given that, we are very cautious of burnout and long-term satisfaction, so ultimate rostering is a discussion that works for everyone. Staff wellness and satisfaction, feeling valued, and being encouraged and supported to grow professionally we consiser a vital responsibility.
New graduate starting rate is $43/hr, with monthly reviews for the first 3 months, then every 3 months for the first 12 months. We begin with extended consults and decrease the length of time as you develop confidence and speed. Our seniour vet is available by Telegram and phone most times as needed. Experienced rates are dependent on performance.
An understanding of the business side of practise is important. Veterinary medicine is an artform. We don't want upselling. But we do need proper work-ups, patient follow-through, following clinic protocols on clinic scheduling, estimates and pricing, and fighting those inate tendencies to discount to ensure all staff, including nurses, are paid well.
The clinic prides itself on excellent patient and client care. Our aim is for excellence, empathy, and compassion. We would love to find a vet who shares our vision.
