Veterinary AssistantCheyenne West Animal Hospital
Full-time: 4x10 and some weekends
3650 N Buffalo Dr, Las Vegas, NV 89129
Compensation is negotiable based on experience and credentials, with an expected starting range of $20-$22 per hour. The actual pay will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
About You
You are a compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented professional who thrives in a cross-trained role supporting veterinary assistant and client service responsibilities. You are passionate about animal care, enjoy supporting veterinary staff during medical treatments, and take pride in delivering excellent service to clients. You help ensure that both patients and pet owners feel cared for, informed, and supported throughout their experience.
Qualifications:
- Must have at least 2 years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong communication and organizational abilities.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and patient safety.
- Must be comfortable handling animals of all sizes and temperaments.
- Able to lift 40+ lbs and stand for extended periods, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
Role Responsibilities:
Animal Care & Kennel Duties:
- Provide daily care for boarding and hospitalized animals, including feeding, watering, walking, and monitoring behavior and health.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kennels, cages, runs, and hospital wards.
- Bathe and groom animals as needed.
- Document and report any health concerns or behavioral changes to veterinary staff.
- Maintain NOVA record keeping for all boarders and hospitalized animals.
Veterinary Assistant Duties:
- Safely and compassionately restrain animals for exams, treatments, and procedures.
- Assist veterinarians and technicians during appointments, diagnostics, and/or procedures.
- Clean and sterilize medical equipment and treatment areas.
- Prepare and administer medications under supervision.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
Client Service Duties:
- Greet clients warmly and provide excellent communication during check-in and discharge.
- Assist with admitting and discharging patients, including explaining care instructions, medication usage, and treatment plans.
- Answer phones, schedule appointments, and relay messages between clients and medical staff.
- Handle financial transactions and maintain accurate billing records.
- Educate clients on preventive care, services offered, and general pet wellness.
General Duties:
- Maintain inventory and restock supplies in all areas of the hospital.
- Support other team members to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow.
- Follow all safety protocols and infection control procedures.
- Assist with general facility cleaning, laundry, and waste management.
