This is a temporary opportunity until October 1, 2027. This position may be extended or become permanent. This position may be able to work up to one (1) day at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
Veterinary Pathologist
$106,185.97 - $135,238.32 annually + Veterinarian Qualification Differential (VQD) $10,000 for postgraduate (DVM) education or training to the PhD or board certification level
The Veterinary Pathologists team at British Columbia’s Animal Health Centre (AHC) is an established group of six board-certified specialists dedicated to protecting animal health, public health, food safety, and the province’s agricultural economy. As a Veterinary Pathologist with the Animal Health Centre, you will provide expert diagnostic pathology services that support disease detection, surveillance, and animal health protection across British Columbia. Working closely with laboratory scientists, Office of the Chief Veterinarian, private veterinarians, researchers, government partners, and First Nations communities, you will contribute to research, innovation, and continuous improvement in an internationally accredited laboratory. This role offers the unique opportunity to work with a wide variety of animal species while making a meaningful impact on animal health, public health, food safety, and the agricultural sector.
Requirements
Qualifications for this role include:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, or an equivalent degree, from a university of recognized standing. AND,
- Completion of a Pathology residency program or equivalent experience; OR,
- Master’s Degree in Science or Veterinary Medicine (focused on Pathology); OR,
- Doctor of Philosophy Degree (PhD) in Science or Veterinary Medicine
- Eligibility for board certification by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) or European College of Veterinary Pathologists (ECVP).
- Two (2) years or more of demonstrated experience in veterinary diagnostic pathology and diagnostic interpretation.
- Must be eligible to be licensed to practice by the College of Veterinarians in British Columbia or an equivalent Veterinary Licensing body in North America.
