South Carolina Veterinary Specialists & Emergency Care (SCVSEC), a Thrive Pet Healthcare Partner, is seeking a Specialty Teams Technician Supervisor to join our growing team!Why work at South Carolina Veterinary Specialists & Emergency Care?

Our Veterinary Technicians are the heartbeat of our team and work side by side with our veterinarians to care for our patients. We are looking for the right person to motivate, inspire and lead this team. This is a full-time, hourly position, working approximately 40 hours a week, which may include weekend and holiday shifts.
Job Summary:
- The Specialty Teams Supervisor serves as the primary clinical liaison for all of our Specialty Departments, ensuring smooth daily operations, high-quality patient care, and excellent client service. This role will be on the clinical floor in our specialty departments approximately 80% of the time and supports SCVSEC and the Clinical Manager by overseeing the Veterinary Healthcare Team.
- Key responsibilities include supervising and mentoring technical staff while working alongside the team during clinical shifts. Coordinate with doctors to optimize workflow and make sure the departments are well-equipped and organized. The Supervisor will coordinate training opportunities, reassign team members to meet department needs, collaborate with team to maintain accurate inventory of medications and supplies, and oversee the cleaning and maintenance of the clinical department and the equipment.
This position requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, a high level of veterinary technician skills and a deep understanding of specialty medicine and protocols in a veterinary setting. This includes Cardiology, Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Rehabilitation, and Surgery.

- Being on the clinical floor within the specialty departments to ensure smooth workflow and to promptly resolve any patient, client, staff or doctor-related concerns.
- Assign daily responsibilities and case support based on doctor’s schedules and departmental needs.
- Reassign technical staff as needed to maintain productivity and maximize patient care and client service.
- Ensure team is providing daily cleaning to maintain treatment area and equipment to hygienic standards.
Leading with Your Heart
Interpersonal aspect of leading with Emotional Intelligence (EQ), effective use of influence, working together constructively and creatively
- Inspire the department’s technical staff to ensure high-quality performance and efficient workflow aligned with departmental and hospital-wide goals.
- Participate in regular meetings with the Clinical Manager to review and strategize in streamlining departmental performance and improving workplace culture.
- Provide support to SCVSEC to promote hospital-wide success.
Leading With Your Hands

- Partner with the Clinical Manager and Training Coordinator to identify training needs and coordinate skill development opportunities for technical staff.
- Ensure team members are proficient in technical procedures related to Specialty Medicine.
- Support direct reports through regular check-ins, performance discussions, goal setting and annual evaluations.
- Participate with onboarding of new team members.
Key Qualifications:
In addition to a minimum of 3 years of experience in veterinary specialty medicine where advanced technical skills were acquired, the successful candidate will have:
- Ability to inspire and direct a team to promote efficiency and quality care.
- Strong focus on efficiency, cleanliness and thoroughness in all tasks.
- Willingness to respond positively to requests from staff and work effectively with others.
- Knowledge and experience working with CT, Radiology, and Ultrasound.
- Great work ethic and thrives in a fast-paced environment;
- Self-starter who is able to work with and without direct supervision.

Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, and experience.
